We have transformed a gymnasium-sized room into a creative space for children of all ages. Kids are using this room for woodworking, art, printmaking, puppetry, robotics...and for projects of their own design.

Our Magnet Partner, The Beam Center, conducts engineering residencies in this space, too. (We gratefully accept donations, too -- so if you have any extra wood, paint, fabric, or tools, please let us know!)

A new addition to the room is our professional-quality Epilog Laser Cutter. With the installation of four new student computers and design software, students will be able to design products made of wood, acrylic, and cardboard -- and then see the products laser-cut into those materials right before their eyes!

Through our Magnet Partner, NY Sun Works, we built an innovative hydroponics lab where students grow, learn, and eat!

We provide a school wide curriculum to educate students and teachers about the science of sustainability. Students develop the skills to become ecologically mindful innovators and problem solvers for local and global challenges.

Students continue their education outside of the classroom as members of a local community garden and through additional partnerships with organizations such as the Botanical Gardens, Greenthumb, and NYC Grows.

CookShop Classroom uses hands-on exploration, cooking and physical activities to foster children’s enjoyment and consumption of healthy food, and their appreciation for good nutrition and living an active lifestyle.

The Beam Center works closely with principals and classroom teachers to identify and develop hands-on projects that engage students and make learning more tangible.

These projects can range from developing over several weeks to more intensive school-wide initiatives that unfold over a full semester.
